Any ecological problem in our locality is also our problem and we have to look for possible solutions.
Nowadays the environment protections, ecological norms, preservation of natural resources are topical issues that were widely discussed within the framework of this project. In order to successfully protect the forest and water bodies as well as animal species, one has to obtain enough knowledge about the nature, natural laws and true values. When working on this project, the pupils gathered a lot of information (statistical data) regarding our settlements. They carried out measurements and subsequent computation of data regarding the air pollution. The pupils carried out research into ecological problems of our forest. Knowledge is only the first step: in order to protect the nature from harmful activities of people, we should take actions. Everybody who wants to become an active fighter with irresponsible human activities against the nature should strengthen ones will and acquire a sound basis of knowledge.
Environmental problems described by us are of great importance. Which one calls for our immediate attention?
Majority of our pupils take part in environment protection activities. They take care of the forest, keep clean their school and its surroundings, take part in actions of planting of trees and bushes in their settlements and school territories, and work for protecting of plants under threat of extinction in our localities.
The pupils very actively gathered data concerning the car exhaust that contribute to air pollution (7th class). The Head Forester Office provided them with wood measurement data.
Being aware that birds have their important balancing role in the forest ecosystem, pupils engaged in a variety of actions for caring of them: for winter period, they made troughs for feeding, and for springtime, birds nesting-boxes for birds. We do our outmost to protect the forest from fire, regularly carry out observations of forest and water animals.
The man acts as the master of the Nature that is in fact our greatest treasure of incalculable values, awareness of which should be promoted among the population, in order to perform the effective environmental protection.
As regards fishes, every species needs unpolluted water bodies. We have to protect our lakes and rivers.
Fishes need water, birds need air, animals need forest, and we need our native country. If you protect the Nature, you protect your native country.
This work is intended for every reader preoccupied with ecological problems both on local and Lithuanian level.
